Have you ever be exhausted by the school test when you were in your schooldays? In my case, I have. I always hated to take an examination when I was in my middle and high schools because I don't like to study only for the test. A lot of students are suffering from pressure that they have to get the good score from the test, and this makes excessive competition. I think this kind of educational system is really inefficient.
Testing has a lot of bad influences to students. First of all, it makes too much competition, so students are getting stress from it. They have to study some subjects that the school taught them, and it is not related with each student's talent. Another problem is that it can make the gap between the poor students and the rich students. Most of students go to the supplementary educational institute, but the poor students cannot pay the tuition fee. Therefore, it is harder to make good score to the poor students. Of course, private education is the problem itself, but the more serious thing is it can cause discrimination between the students and the teachers. Finally, studying for the exam is not a way to learn and get some knowledge anymore. Students study only for the exam, not for their future. Therefore, it fails to raise true human resources, but just making exam experts. Of course, there are some opinions that students won't study if they do not have the exam. However, I think if the students find their own talents, they will study for themselves.
I'm really sorry for the students who have some unique talents but cannot realize yet because of the educational system nowadays. It is important to help the students to find their personal talents and abilities, not to measure them by their scores. Testing has to be the checking system that the students can measure their development themselves. Maybe educational officials have to make the first step.

  1. Have you ever been exhausted by exams during your school life? Taking tests is always a hardship for typical students, just as you were during your school years. Who would like to study all night and have themselves tested? As people struggle to achiever better grades, they feel great pressure from competition, not to mention from parents’ expectation to get a fine grade. Such an education system is inefficient on several bases.

Testing has a lot of negative influence to students. First of all, it provokes excessive competition, which burdens people with stress. They are compelled to study subjects in routine, regardless of their talent or potential within them. Next, it exposes the gap between the Haves and the Have-nots. Those students with fortune will be able to get opportunity to go to cram-schools or have a tutor. Whereas, those less-fortunate have to do with only school lessons. Setting a side the pros and cons of private education, society does have to face that it is the reality which can act as another social discrimination. Last, but not least, exam-oriented studying is no longer an effective way to obtain knowledge in the new era which calls for creativity. Schools cannot let students to study only for exams and not for their future with great potential. Society does not need students like the Model T of Fords. Some assert that exam is the only and the best method to promote students to study. However, only after students realize their interest can they really get into something. After all, that is really what school education is about.

Today, there are so many students who have to give up their talent to adjust themselves to the system. Since when people had to manipulate themselves to the system? It is important to assist students to find their own talents and abilities. This cannot be judged by ranking and numbers. Ironically, test system has priority over students. It is now time to restore the priority. Let students be first.
